Studies on the traditional historiography of the Maronites on the period 1100-1516.
Salibi examines the historical literature of the Maronites, both mediaeval and modern. The Arab chroniclers of Zengid, Ayyubid, and Mamluk times made almost no reference to the internal affairs of Lebanon-a mountainous borderland, of military rather than political significance to the central authorities at Damascus or Cairo.
